Associates
Spirituality and the Arts - Our Conference for the Associates
of the Society of St. Margaret was held on Thursday, July 15 and Friday, July 16.
It was presented by the Rev. Canon Victoria R. Sirota, SSM Associate, and Dr. Robert Sirota.

The Rev. Canon Victoria R. Sirota
The participants had an opportunity to reflect on the way in which the arts inspire our spirituality and
deepen our relationship with God. The addresses included:
- The Artistic Journey of the Soul: Openness to Other by Vicki Sirota
- The Act of Creation: The Struggle Within by Bob Sirota
- Living Life with the Fullness of God’s Creation, a collaborative effort of Vicki and Bob Sirota
Through architecture, visual arts, literature, and especially music, the presentations and
discussions considered the creative journey, balance, rebirth, renewal and joy! It was truly
an enlightening and informative conference!
What is an Associate?
An Associate of the Society
of St. Margaret is a person desirous of sharing in the life and work of the
Sisters while pursuing one’s own particular Christian vocation. Associates are
women and men, some are ordained, but all are persons for whom the Eucharist
holds a central place in their spiritual lives. Associate membership is open
to all the baptized, of whatever denominational affiliation.
Associates develop a Rule of Life with the assistance of a member of the
Community serving as Director of Associates. Associates have a special bond
with the Sisters based on shared values. Their relationship is one of mutual
support. Associates are remembered daily in the prayers of the Sisters and
are welcome as visitors in all Houses of the Society. For their part,
Associates pray daily for the life and ministry of the Sisters, assist
the Sisters in various projects as they are able and if possible, make
financial contributions. Associates need to maintain contact with the
Sisters and are encouraged to visit the Houses of the Society regularly.
Those living at a distance from any of the SSM Houses should be in touch
by writing the Director of Associates at least once a year.
Additional information about becoming an Associate of the Society of St.
Margaret is available upon request. We welcome your inquiry. Associate
members hold a valued place in the life of SSM.
